About me
I was born in Glasgow and originally trained as a nurse.I have been a qualified nurse for over 16 years, working mainly in sexual health, primarily as a sexual health adviser. My interest in counselling and how it could help people started when I was an associate nurse working at an AIDS Hospice in London. This led me to taking a professional qualification in counselling in 1998 gaining a Diploma in 2001 and a Master of Science in Counselling in 2012 both at the University of Strathclyde.I have been a member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) since 1998 adhering to the BACP Ethical Framework and gained accreditation as a Registered Counsellor in 2005.As my career as a counsellor has progressed, I have been increasingly interested in the areas of spirituality and sexuality.Currently I am studying for a Post Graduate Certificate in Clinical Hypnotherapy through the London College of Clinical Hypnosis and the University of the West of London. I am a member of Person Centred Therapy Scotland and an affiliate member of the British Society of Clinical Hypnosis and abide by its Code of Conduct.
